FAQ

Is it like a tattoo? - Yes. However, pigments for the face are different than those used for body tattoo.

What types of pigments are used? - The pigments are specifically for facial use, and are perfectly safe.

Can the pigments affect MRIs? - Generally, No. However, sometimes, they may create a heat sensation in that area. Check with your radiologist prior to the procedure.

Does it hurt? - Everyone's level of pain tolerance is different. I am extremely sensitive to any pain my client might experience. I apply topical anesthetic frequently during the process to make you as comfortable as possible.

How long does a procedure take? - Depending on the individual and how responsive he/she is to the topical, it can take from 2 to 3 hours. There are two follow-ups which generally take less time.

How long does it take to heal? - Again, this depends on the individual. For the eyes, it takes in the area of 1 to 2 days and in some extreme cases 3 days for the eyes to get over their red appearance. For the lips, some people have no swelling, others have minimal swelling. I did my mother at age 76 and her lip swelling lasted for 2 days. The brows generally do not swell but are tender for the first day. However, in all instances I do not recommend any makeup application until the tattooed areas are healed. Foundation can be applied around those tattooed areas after 72 hours and with non-contaminated, new makeup.

How do I set up an appointment? - First you call to set up a consult appointment. Consults are a prerequisite before any procedure is done. The consult fee is $90 and is applied to the final cost. At the time of the consult, if you wish to go ahead with the procedure, a patch test for color is done and an appointment is set up in four weeks for the procedure. By then the color will have settled and we know where we are going with the chosen color--we can change it, or use it! Exceptions made for those who have a tattoo.
